New dreamlike equestrian show in the Grandes Ecuries in Chantilly (60) – France.
Here’s what the flyer distributed at the entrance of the show proposes. The poster shows a free white horse, galloping towards us and out of a peacock feather.
Metamorphoses … Just the name leaves skeptical … So many promises and possibles !
Sophie Bienaimé, equestrian and artistic director, presents her new show: it promises a new world inspired byt the metamorphoses of time and souls but also by the images, perception and senses.
It helps us in our understanding of the show by referring to the Metamorphoses of Ovid, Latin poet who told in 12000 of poems sentences the different transformations of the gods of mythology. It is also the characters that we find in the tables of this show.
A show that is not just a horse show!
This show is not just composed of equestrians and horses.
Trio Sarocchi, musicians and singers accompany live. Under the dome of Les Grandes Ecuries de Chantilly, in this architectural ensemble so suitable for music, they are storrytellers and with their voices and instruments they make us travel in another time.
Antoine Lafon enriches the table of artists. Acrobat multifaceted, he is sometimes a dancer, sometimes a gymnast , sometimes a character straight out of our storybooks.
This is a perfect osmosis : They become all dancers, musicians, singers, and artists simply and beautifully.
15 Métamorphoses Scenes
To make you enjoy this show, I took notes on each of the 15 scenes, all very different from each other, mixing acrobatics, dance, beautiful costumes, lights & shadows without forgetting beautiful horses and equestrians.
Then finally, I told myself that I will not describe you.
The surprise is part of the show and I would not want to lessen your enjoyment, which will, I am sure, as intense as mine.
A show for all audiences
During this preview, the room was packed and the audience mostly made up of families with children of all ages.
There were probably many horse riders but also many people who did not know anything about horses.
But this show is perfect for everyone! Never losing children, with small doses of humor that bring them into the show after the most serious scenes.
If I had to remember one thing ?
It would be the emotions !
Music and live vocals participate of course a lot to the general feeling, with this special acoustic of Les Grandes Ecuries de Chantilly.
As a rider, during the first minutes, I had only eyes for the horses , their movements , the prowess required of them , the lightweight applications of it, etc.
But soon , I was caught by the show and left me worn by emotions , waiting for each scene with candor and astonishment.
And when the end of the show came, I woke up , like from a sweet dream in which Sophie Bienaimé told us her Metamorphoses .
